~ A Collection Of Antique And Vintage Santas ~

Now that our annual Christmas party has finally come to a end it is time to get back to blogging once again. We have missed many great Christmas post . So it looks like I better get a mug of hot cider and sit in front of the tree and start reading. Lol Just a warning if you don't like Santa very much there are a lot ahead in this post so be prepared. lol We have a collection of antique and vintage Santa's dating from the 1870's - 1950's. We started collecting them about 8 years ago. This Santa riding in the pine cone car dates to about the 50's or early 60's. He is from West Germany.

I found about 15 vintage 48 star silk flags at a shop here in town so I bought them and use them for the Belsnikles and Santa's who are missing their feather trees.

All of them except for two or three are from Germany and West Germany and also pre WW II Japan.

This little guy is ridding on this deer to go deliver gifts and he is holding a vintage flag.

This little guy above is made of celluloid during the late 20's or early 30's.

Here is Santa with a pair of skis this ins one of the early ones made in Japan during the 30's.

I like this hand made sleigh above it is a great folk art piece. And there is a belsnikle riding inside it. This is a German Santa and dates from about the late teens to early 20's.
We found this wooden bowl with the snow scene at another friends shop in Yucaipa.

This Santa above is riding a vintage putz pony and the Santa is a 1920's German Santa.

My favorites Santa's are the composition and paper mache Santa's from the 1870's - 1910.

The Christmas tip bucket is a fun little treasure with Santa in his sleigh and reindeer. It was probably a holiday gift from the early 1900's. And is a local peace from Upland Ca. It might of been a dry good store.

The other side of the mantle filled with some very early German Santa's.

~ Support Small Business Day Finds ~

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving with family and friends as we did. But the other fun began on Saturday morning. We had gotten up early and went to support some of our favorite antique shops for small business day.

We had gone to three different counties where some of our favorite shops are. Here are a couple of glass ornaments we found. And one bisque statue of a little girl with her puppy she was made in Japan probably right before the 1940s.

The glass ornaments were made in Germany and West Germany between the 1930's through the 1950's. I like the Santa and the little bears are my favorites. Well Thanks for stopping by today and wishing you all a great week......Tallulah's

~ Antique And Vintage Thanksgiving Display ~

Thanksgiving is just around the corner, 2011 has flewn by so fast so now we have pulled out all our wonderful turkeys for display for the Holiday. We used are old wooden store display to create different levels of display. Which gives us more room to show off our little goodies! Right below the Thanksgiving display our Halloween collection is tuck away for another year but kept in a old glass store display so we may view it through out the year.Here we have a couple of antique plates with turkeys on them. The blue and white Turkey plate was a three dollar purchase at a garage sale. We found one online and it was sold for alot more than 3 dollars. I sure LOVE garage sales...LOL

We have a small collection of paper mache Turkey candy containers we have found at shops and flea markets here in So. Cali.

The Turkeys were filled with little pieces of candy and given out to children as play toys.

The Turkeys were made in Germany some where between 1905-1930s. They have metal feet and a couple have glass eyes.

This big Turkey on the left was found in one of our many favorite stores called Country Roads in Orange County.

~ Time To Bring Out The Quilts ~

Now with the colder weather that has finally arrived here in California, Tallulah & I have decided to bring out our winter collection of quilts to stay warm. When ever we go out treasure hunting and we come across a quilt that is a different pattern and a great price we don't think twice about purchasing it. Lol

We store some of them in wonderful primitive blanket chest made of pine. I think it is from the early part of the 19Th century and might be American.

Our wonderful coverlet is dated 1830 and has a double headed eagle with the liberty building and a double rose pattern. I think the double headed eagle is a Masonic symbol.

With us trying to go green to help out good old Mother Earth I'm just going to place more quilts on the bed and turn down the old heater to do our part in keeping the earth green.

~ HALLOWEEN ANTIQUES ~

Well it's that time again with Halloween just around the corner to share with you all our collection of antique and vintage Halloween collectibles.
Here is a antique postcard that is mechanical that dates from 1910. The little guys arm moves up and down to cover his face with the pumpkin. Ray had bought me the little nut cups that came in a set of six for Christmas a couple of years ago. They are probably from the 50s or 60s.

This little WITCH sits on top of a china hutch watching over our or her collection of Halloween goodies.

Here is a shot of the whole collection in our TV room. That way we get to see all the goodies as we are watching scary movies. LOl.

This orange book dates from the 20's and the photo shows a young party goer showing off her costume.

All theses pumpkins are from the 30's 40's and 50's. The crape paper hats were a cool find also they date from the 20's or 30's

This vintage hand sewn child's costume was found at a antique store in Orange Co. We just stuffed it up with some tissue paper to fatten him out. ~ Getting Ready For Fall ~

Hello friends, It's time we put away our summer display an start thinking about Fall. I have already noticed some of the local trees around us losing their leaves. We have missed everyone while we were away in the garden this past Spring and Summer we where working hard trying to beat the 104 degree temp, and enjoying the pleasures of gardening. I have read and seen a few of our friends blogs and on Facebook posting pictures of their Fall decorating ideals. So Raymond and I decided to decorate the mantle in the ladies hat room.
I pulled out the decorations from the cabinet and Raymond did all the decorating. He always does a great job on the vignettes. I help a little he just goes over what I do. lol

Raymond has these vintage ceramic pheasants that him and his mother found on a shopping trip they did together many years ago which go well with Fall decor. Do you rember those I think growing up ever house had a pair or at least my famliy did. We found this gourd at a local garage sale here in town.

Fall seems to hits So Cal a little later for us out here. But it has been fun bring out everything and get started on decorating.

I was able to find some pomegranates on an old abandoned tree in a field not far from our home. So I picked some for the display. I bet once a house sat there on the land and kids would pick them daily.

This American clock in the center of the mantle we found at a auction in Redlands a couple of years ago. It dates from about 1830's to about 1850's. I like the American eagle on the top of the clock. That is the main reason I purchased it and it still works.

~ BEACH DAYS ~

I know it has been a while since our last visit with you all. But it has been busy in the garden and Summer seems to take all my time in the mornings. With all this heat we been having this Summer we decided it was time to bring out our vintage and antique beach related items and make a couple vignettes to share with all of you.

Here the bears are enjoying the vintage and antique sand pails that we found at a couple shops here in So Cal. One of them are from the 20s 40s and the 50s or 60s.

Here are a couple of antique postcards depicting ocean scenes. I like the one with the monkeys at the beach with there Victorian swim suits. They are too cute.

Here is a Victorian puzzle with a little girl at the beach with her best friend enjoying playing in the sand.

This pail is from the 1920s or 30s. It shows theses two children catching a starfish with there net. We used Spanish moss that we brought back from South Carolina as sea weed or did we buy it here in town wink wink? For the vignettes since the real thing will dry up quick and make a slimy mess. lol

In this pic we have this chalk ware mermaid from the 1920's which was a carnival prize that someone probably won at a country fair or maybe at the boardwalk?

Here is a little vignette with a child's plate with a couple little sailors from the late Victorian period. On the right side is an old ship book stand to keep books in place.
