Playing In The Garden

It's been a beautiful Spring here in So Cal.  We had a mild winter this year so there wasn't much frost damage.   Wishing you all a beautiful Spring as well and happy gardening to you too.

Spring Has Arrived

Spring has finally come to us a little early here in So.Cal.    sharing some blooms with our fellow gardening friends.

~ Our Italian Terrace ~

The sun was out this Saturday morning so we decided to share with you some of the blooms in our terrace garden. This is the third year that the terrace has been finished. And the plants have finally matured and shared some blooms.

Here's Tallulah exiting the entrance of the our small orchard. We have different fruit trees planted here. The orange and tangerine trees are filling the air with there sweet scent and the bees seem to be hard at work pollinating. And the grape vines already have small tags on them. Ray's Lemon tree got hit with the frost this past winter, or a goffer got to the roots. We are unsure but it looks pretty sick. But we have some hope for it!

The name of this rose has slipped my mind, at this time. But I luv the blooms on it they are full of light yellow blooms and pink blooms. It is a hybid of yellow and pink roses. It is beautiful!

The terrace has mint's,boxwoods, ivy, geraniums and some succulents which do pretty well with the heat here in So.Cal

The Iris bed below has given us an abundance of bloom. But the other day I noticed some nibbling on the blooms. So now I must start hunting for the little pest. I will have to relocate the little boogier.

Here are some nice geranium blooms that have survived the frost this past winter.

~ Spring Is In The Air~ Post for fellow gardeners

Spring seems to have made an early visit to us this year. With a couple of blooms throughout the garden we captured with our phone cameras.
This bed of irises with their color of blue underneath our vintage garden deer. This is the kind of deer I don't mind in the garden he wont eat much of the pretty blooms.

Ray's peach tree has just came out of its slumber and decided to put out some blooms. Hopefully they will turn into some sweet peaches this year.

Here is one of the lavender bushes that have been blooming for the past month.

I have been cleaning out some of the plants that were damaged with the frost, but Jack Frost didn't get to some of this geranium flowers.

Here are some pretty pink geranium blooms that have survived the frost this winter which I am glad about. But this week we are expecting some more rain that will nourish the garden once again.

And last but not least here is a purple leaved plum tree that has given us a gift of pretty pink blossoms. ~ Summer Crape Myrtles ~

Happy Sunday morning friends, I trust you all will have a great one. As for me I'm still getting over this Summer cold which has been a pain in the neck. I just wanted to share with you all some pictures, Raymond took in front of the house of the crape myrtles in bloom. The bees and bumble bees seem to luv the blooms because they are humming away in the branches.

We have three of them planted in a row but the other two are just beginning to bloom. And for the bird house we picked up in South Carolina Ray's uncle makes them now that he is retired and sells them to tourist on there way to Myrtle beach. Today I'm going to join in on a party for~ My Romantic Home~ being hosted by Cindy. Well I hope you enjoyed the photos and enjoy the rest of your weekend. ~ Whitw Wednesday's Chaise Lounge~

Hello again for another fun White Wednesday And Show And Tell Friday hosted by Cindy. It finally has cooled off a little and now I can take a little rest from watering and enjoy the garden. Today Im posting this great chaise lounge we picked up at a flea market in Irvine. We just had new fabric and new pillows made for it.

It is cast iron and probably late 19Th century. We were surprised that it was still there. Though there was a couple, trying to make up there mind weather or not they wanted it. Once they walked away we jumped in on it just couldnt let this one get away.

It is nice to look at but the girls are the ones who use it more than us. Well I hope you enjoyed this garden piece. And have yourself a great week.........Julian

~White Garden Patio luncheon Table ~

Happy ~ Show And Tell Friday ~ friends. I hope you all had a really great weekend. As for us we had to work but that is fine it was a great weekend anyway. Today I am posting our patio table and chairs. We had bought this set for only 50 bucks at Mora's Antiques here in town. It was painted black and had no seats. I just painted the tables and chairs with a couple of cans of spray paint.

The back splat has roses on them and the edge of the table also has roses going around the edge. And they are cast iron which makes them sturdy. I think I need to put another coat of paint because the sun and the heat has taken a toll on the paint job again.

I also have a small cast iron urn filled with sea shells and Spanish moss sitting in the middle of the table. The seats are covered with some outdoor fabric with the common cabbage rose pattern on them.

We eat out there, every now and then when the weather is nice or the early evening when it is cool. Ray placed our "Poppy Trail" pattern which might be from the 60s or the 70s but they were made here in California. They were a good deal for a 20 peace set for 15 dollars at a thrift store in Riverside. ~ Anniversary Find ~

Hi Friends, Hope you had a great weekend. We had a road trip for the day to Palm Springs for our anniversary and found these great cherubs for our garden. At one of our favorite places to shop for vintage and antiques treasures. I wanted to post them up for ~White Wednesday~ which is hosted by Kathleen over at ~ Faded*Charm ~ and also for ~ Show And Tell Friday ~ hosted by Cindy at ~ MY ROMANTIC HOME ~

One Cherub is holding some wheat in his hands. I need to rearrange that area of the garden with plantings of catnip and a small pink rose such as the knock out roses to surround him.

They are probably from the 1930s - 1950s. And boy I tell you they weigh a ton. But I'm still recovering from surgery and missed the chance to help pick them up and place them in the garden. Thanks to Ray, and our dolly they performed that task.

Here is the second cherub holding a basket of roses. My favorite flowers and Queen in my garden. Since I am not able to grow peonies out here in So.Cal

~ Garden Urn White Iceberg Roses~

Hello Friend's out there in blog land! I hope all of you had a great weekend. As for me I am doing much better and recovering quite fast. I had gone to a barn sale on Friday. Called ~Matilda's Mouse~. I gathered all my strength to go. Hoping to find that special piece . but I had no luck. Though the displays were beautiful and it was great to see some friends there. And the weather was great! Today I am going to post early for ~WHITE WEDNESDAY~ over at Faded*Charm And also for ~Out Door Wednesday~ I have a cast iron urn one of a pair. The other is on the other side of the garden. These beauties probably date from the mid 19Th century. They are both set among some White Iceberg Roses. In a day or two the moon will be full and the moonlight makes these roses glow at night.

We have planted about six bushes along the side wall and they also have taken off this Spring. Well please be sure and visit the other participant's. And as always Thank You for dropping by the garden for a spell. Have a good day and enjoy your week.....Julian

~Spring Garden Urns~

Hello Friends, I hope your all having a good day in the garden or on your patio. Today I was not able to post new pictures of something else. You see my camera phone took a dive today. So I am posting some photos from an older post I had done earlier. I am joining in on the fun at Colorado lady for ~Vintage Thingies Thursday~ And also for ~Show And Tell Friday~ Hope you have a chance to visit the other participants to see their goodies. Have a good day..Julian These two urns are cast iron from the mid to the late 19th century. We found one at a flea market in Long Beach. And the other in a shop called Sisters in Redlands Ca.

They do come in two peaces so it is easier to transport. But being they are cast iron they are still heavy. But beautiful to enjoy and look at.

In this one I placed roses in it but I hope the heat from the sun and iron doesn't cook them.
