~ Our Get away From Work ~

Well here we are, still relaxing in our back garden with Summer about to begin . The roses and some of the other blooms will start to slow down once the summer heat starts. This is the reason why we have not been posting for a while. We just wanted to enjoy what mother nature has given us for a bit. This is the back side garden with a view of the wall, notice our little bird feeder hanging from the tree. We really enjoy watching all our little friends eating from their feeders, Hummbirds, Oriole's, Bluebirds, Yellow Finch's, Bluejay's ect...

We love to use vintage an antique garden ornaments through out the garden. Such as the birdbaths and cast iron garden urns, we have purchased through the years on our weekend trips. And our yearly trips to South Carolina too see Raymond's mother & father.

This is another section of the back garden where we planted some Texas privet to divide the back yard to create another garden room.

This bed is our newest bed garden, it has been planted with some roses, lavender, lambs ear and some acanthus. And we moved our front birdbath to this area. since we are currently remodeling the front garden and adding a court yard with a wonderful vintage fountain.

The Queen's Anne lace really took off and I had to thin some of it out because it took over some of the roses along the wall.

This urn was found at the Long Beach flea market two years ago and the price was too steal and we just couldn't pass it up.

This side of the wall garden hasn't really bloomed yet, but it is the last place where the sun shines during the later part of the day. Thanks for stopping by our garden and staying a while. ~ Just relaxing In The Garden ~

Hi there friends just wanted to say we are still around and apologize for being away for a while. I hope you all had a wonder full Mother's Day this past Sunday. But we are just taking a short break to smell all the roses and the other Spring flowers in the garden and enjoy the work we have done throughout the year. Before we start posting again but I promise we will be back. Hope to see you all soon...........Julian & Ray

~ Our Italian Terrace ~

The sun was out this Saturday morning so we decided to share with you some of the blooms in our terrace garden. This is the third year that the terrace has been finished. And the plants have finally matured and shared some blooms.

Here's Tallulah exiting the entrance of the our small orchard. We have different fruit trees planted here. The orange and tangerine trees are filling the air with there sweet scent and the bees seem to be hard at work pollinating. And the grape vines already have small tags on them. Ray's Lemon tree got hit with the frost this past winter, or a goffer got to the roots. We are unsure but it looks pretty sick. But we have some hope for it!

The name of this rose has slipped my mind, at this time. But I luv the blooms on it they are full of light yellow blooms and pink blooms. It is a hybid of yellow and pink roses. It is beautiful!

The terrace has mint's,boxwoods, ivy, geraniums and some succulents which do pretty well with the heat here in So.Cal

The Iris bed below has given us an abundance of bloom. But the other day I noticed some nibbling on the blooms. So now I must start hunting for the little pest. I will have to relocate the little boogier.

Here are some nice geranium blooms that have survived the frost this past winter.

Julian's Birthday Treasure's

This is Julian's newest treasures he scored for his Birthday this past weekend. He was looking for another birdbath for the garden and we found this one in a wonderful shop in San Diego today. Now we just have to figure out how to get it home safely.

We, just started remodeling our front court yard and this wonderful piece will be a great focal point at the far end of the new court yard.

We found this wonnderful oil paintin on canvas, at the Long Beach flea market this weekend. And the Price....Well, let's just say Julian high stepped it real fast when we paid the man!!

Here's Julian, grinning from ear to ear in our garden today! I can only imagine he is thinking what a spoil brat he is for getting all these goodies for his birthday!! "Love ya babe!"

~ Antique Easter Treasures Of The Past ~

As we decorate our home for Easter, we must take a moment to remember the meaning of Easter! We hope all our fellow bloggers and friends enjoy this time of the year and we must remember those before us. We hope you will enjoy our little Easter collection! Here are some German candy containers from the early 1900's-1930's. Made of paper mac he and their eyes are made of glass. Candy had been filled inside for the children and placed in their Easter baskets. This bunny carries a vintage flag with him and no Easter collection is not complete without a lamb. We used are putz lambs to also display our vignette.

This chocolate mold above has a little child dressed as a rabbit for Easter it is probably from the 1930s.

In this photo above there are some milk glass eggs and one egg made of tin from the 1890 to about 1915.

Just thought we would add some of pictures of our front garden flowers, that remind us of Easter as we walk to the front door.

This compote is filled with some moss and flowers from the garden and another candy container and a wonderful little lamb. ~ Antique Easter Postcards ~

Hi Everyone, I hope you are all enjoying your weekend. As for us we are getting ready for a little Easter decorating after church around our home. But for starters I will share our collection of antique Easter postcards. Some of them are dated from 1904-1914. Some of them have sweet Easter greetings for the receiver of the card.

I'm not sure about this card above but it looks like the person who received this one, was reminded too called their friend Arizona Jack.

We took theses pictures out in the garden hoping it would be a great back drop for the cards.

~ Antique Rose Inspired Treasures # 2 ~

After a day of some gardening in the courtyard and a little of antiquing in town, I've decided to share some more rose oil paintings in our collection. I can smell the homemade spaghetti sauce Ray is cooking up as I am writing this post. yum-yum!

Being that our roses aren't ready to bloom outside yet. We get to enjoy the roses on the walls of our home. Till the outside garden blooms and shows us her colors. This one above is my favorite.

They are a wonderful collection of paintings that ladies did as a hobby, back in the late 19Th and early 20Th century.

I like this one with the bees hovering above these pretty red roses.

This one has a pretty frame and is painted on board.(above)

These yellow roses were my first rose oil painting that got me hooked on collecting roses, 13 years ago.

Here is a water color and gouache with bumblebees on the basket and flying above the roses. (below)

Some of our oil paintings are signed and dated by the women who painted them.
And that makes them, that more special to us.

We enjoy how some of them are real simple looking.
